Where the patch meets the prompt.

Practical AI intelligence for oil and gas professionals, written by someone who has worked the jobs, wireline and downhole, across MENA and Canada, for people who still do.

Issue 01: The Autonomy Issue
Issue 01 July 2026
The Feature
AIQ built a well control system that runs with no human in the loop. It is already live on more than 500 wells.

AIQ is a joint venture between ADNOC and Presight that has spent six years building AI for one industry only. Their closed loop system adjusts gas injection and choke settings in real time on its own, and a new $340 million contract is taking it to 28 more producing fields. From the Global Energy Show in Calgary.

What The Mudlog is
This newsletter
+AI-specific. Every issue is about AI in oil and gas. Nothing else.
+Written by a former field engineer with experience across MENA and Canada.
+Grounded in real conversations. Companies met on the show floor, not press releases rewritten.
+Every two weeks. Short enough to actually read.
+Free. No paywall. No sponsored content. No affiliate links.
Not this newsletter
Not a rig count or commodities briefing. We do not track oil prices.
Not a press release aggregator. If a company sent a release, we will tell you what actually matters in it.
Not written for investors. Written for people who run operations or work in them.
Not hype. Not jargon. Not "revolutionising" anything.

The signal in the noise. Every two weeks. Free.
